Two years ago, we were asked to help make an announcement to family visiting from out of the country the day after Christmas:
a baby was on the way.
We smiled, celebrated, and quietly looked forward to the day when we could welcome that child into the Christmas season.
The following year, we were there for his first Christmas—a moment that was more than lights and presents. It was a glimpse of a lifetime of traditions beginning. At that visit, we presented the parents with a Baby’s First Christmas keepsake and an early draft of the poem that grew into “A First Christmas Wish.”
🎁 The Story We Thought We’d Write
Long before that baby was born, we had been brainstorming ideas for a story for children who were transitioning from believers to helpers—a gentle way to help them understand that growing up doesn’t mean leaving Santa behind.
The main idea was this:
they could choose to become members of The Santa Legacy—a community of people who keep Christmas Magic alive all year long.
That idea came from a realization: there are people for whom Christmas is more than a season. It’s a way of living—rooted in kindness, generosity, wonder, and love. We wanted to honor that, celebrate it, and support it.
✨ A Different Kind of Welcome
As we talked more, another idea began to take shape.
What if we celebrated not just when someone joined The Santa Legacy…
but when they were born into it?
We imagined the celebration at the North Pole: the moment Santa and Mama Claus are alerted to a new child in a Legacy family. The gathering of elves, the joy in the workshop, the warmth of wishes made for that child’s life.
At first, we thought about making it a story where their name was added to the Nice List for the very first time.
But then something deeper took hold.
This wasn’t just about a list.
It was about a legacy.
📚 The Birth of A First Christmas Wish – A Baby’s First Christmas Keepsake
That’s how A First Christmas Wish came to be.
It’s a story of the North Pole coming together to welcome a new life. Of the hopes and dreams we hold for every child: that they will grow up surrounded by love, inspired to share kindness, and aware that they carry the power to create Magic wherever they go.
It’s a story for the very first Christmas…
but also for the very first step into a life filled with Christmas Spirit.
We hope the book will become a treasured Baby’s First Christmas keepsake.
🍼 Celebrating Your Own First Christmas
For families, that first Christmas is a milestone. It’s the beginning of traditions, the start of stories, the moment you realize you’re building memories that will last a lifetime.
We’re working on something special to go with the book—a Baby’s First Christmas Journal Page, designed to capture the sights, sounds, and smiles of that magical first December. It will be the first page in a 10-year Christmas Keepsake Journal, so you can record your family’s traditions and watch them grow.
Because every first Christmas deserves to be remembered.
And every child deserves a wish for a life filled with Magic.
