At The Santa Legacy, we believe that Christmas Magic isn’t just for December; it’s for every day! From creating “Christmas Magic Moments” to celebrating “Little Holidays,” there are countless ways to keep that spark glowing. Join us as we explore ten heart-filled ideas to infuse your everyday life with the joy, kindness, and wonder of the holiday season. Let’s keep the spirit alive together!

For me, the saddest day of the year is the day all the Christmas decorations are boxed up and put away until next Thanksgiving. I always wished that the Magic of the Christmas season lasted longer. It wasn’t just the decorations. It was the feeling and specialness of the season. When I became Mrs. Claus, I felt like I was finally able to extend the Christmas season beyond the boundaries of December. And I discovered that many other people felt the same way.

At The Santa Legacy, we believe Christmas Magic isn’t just for December. It’s for snow days and sunny days, quiet mornings and chaotic school nights. Magic is in the moments we share, the kindness we show, and the wonder we invite into ordinary days. Here are ten simple, heart-filled ways you and your family can keep that spark glowing all year.

✨ 1. Smile First. Every Day.

A smile is the smallest act of Christmas Magic—and one of the most powerful. Start your mornings with a smile for yourself, your family, and even strangers. Magic grows when it’s noticed and when it’s shared.

Create a morning ritual that helps you start your day with a smile, such as enjoying a peaceful moment with a cup of coffee or greeting your children with a cheery or silly “Good Morning” when you see them.

✨ 2. Have “Christmas Magic Moments” Once a Week

The days and weeks can seem to blur together, and before you know it, another month is gone. You can define pockets that exude the magic of the Christmas season by creating celebratory moments when you feel like things have become blurry.

Light a candle. Sip cocoa. Read a Christmas story—even in July. Choose one simple, cozy ritual that captures the essence of the season, anytime.

✨ 3. Use the Christmas Magic Cards Year-Round

When my kids were young, I loved creating an advent calendar of daily activities and celebrations to count down to Christmas, making every day a mini-celebration. To carry the principles of Santa – kindness, generosity, wonder, and love throughout the year, take a moment each day to reflect on ways to incorporate those principles into your daily activities.

Our printable Family Card Deck was designed specifically for this purpose. Each day’s activity is tied to one of our four Santa Legacy values: Generosity, Wonder, Kindness, and Love. Let the cards choose your next magical moment.

✨ 4. Keep a Christmas Magic Journal

I take pictures as a way to capture moments and memories that I want to cherish and hold onto. I have an app that shows me the pictures I took on that day throughout the years. It’s fun to remember the moments and to be reminded of the smiles and laughter I shared with family and friends.

Create a journal of your legacy moments. Write down the stories, smiles, and magical moments that matter, just like families have passed down Santa stories for generations. Make this a part of your morning or evening smile ritual.

✨ 5. Celebrate “Little Holidays”

When Santa John and I started looking for ways to celebrate every day, I started following National Day Calendar. We choose a few celebrations each week and find ways to celebrate them at the North Pole. It’s been fun to celebrate things like “National Lost Sock Day” or “Mac & Cheese Day”.

Find days to celebrate or make up your own: Twinkle Lights Tuesday, Cookie for Breakfast Day, Reindeer Games Hour. Create traditions that are silly, sparkly, and all yours. These celebrations are sure to generate smiles and lots of Christmas Magic.

✨ 6. Write Notes to Loved Ones (or Santa)

Do you remember back in the “good ol’ days” when you got excited to get a letter or a card? I had pen pals, and it was fun to come home from school and find a letter from one of them waiting for me. Many times, the letter was just a recount of what was going on in their lives, but it was enjoyable to read and then write a response.

Leave notes for each other just like you’d write to Santa. A reminder that you’re proud, grateful, or just thinking of them goes a long way. A whiteboard on the fridge or a common area of the house with written words of encouragement can bring smiles.

✨ 7. Sing Christmas Songs Out of Season

On the day after Thanksgiving, my Mom woke us up with her stack of Christmas albums, spreading Christmas joy throughout the house. It’s one of my favorite memories. When the kids were young, they would admonish me that I owed them a gift for singing the songs out of season.

When you have permission to embrace the spirit of Christmas all year long, celebrate by singing. Joy to the World? In June? Absolutely. Music taps into memory and magic like nothing else. Belt it out in the car or hum it while doing dishes.

✨ 8. Use the Magic Meter or App

Are spirits waning or kids getting a bit out of hand? Time to break out the Christmas Magic!

The Santa’s Nice List Scanner app works year-round, measuring smiles, joy, and Christmas spirit. Let them know that you heard from Happy Elf that Christmas Magic was running low. Use the app to measure the Magic in your house or that of each child. Then brainstorm ways your kids can help “raise the Magic.”

✨ 9. Give Unexpected Gifts

Christmas is more than the gifts; it’s about acts of kindness and generosity. And generosity should extend throughout the year. The best way to teach your kids about generosity is to model it throughout the year.

Wrap a toy they already own in a dish towel and leave it with a note from “Happy Elf.” Or secretly drop a treat on a neighbor’s porch. Surprise giving makes spirits soar.

✨ 10. Talk About Santa’s Legacy Often

Santa is more than a tool to use in December to get kids to behave and be on their best behavior. Santa and the North Pole are models for how to extend the spirit of Christmas throughout a lifetime.

Remind your children that believing in Santa means believing in what he stands for—kindness, generosity, wonder, and love that never ends. That belief doesn’t stop at bedtime on Christmas Eve.

Christmas Magic doesn’t belong to just one season. We hope we’ve given you ideas of how to keep the spirit alive throughout the year. It lives in stories, in small moments, and in the way we love each other. That’s the heart of The Santa Legacy—and we’re so glad you’re part of it.

Children Rarely Remember the Performance.

Many performers quietly feel pressure to become bigger, louder, funnier, and more entertaining in order to create memorable Christmas experiences.
